Best Things to Do:
The 5 Best Attractions in Neumünster
1. The Old Town Hall
If you're exploring the city center, a look at the administrative building of Neumünster is worthwhile. It was built between 1898 and 1900 in the Neo-Gothic style and was meant to reflect the city's economic prosperity at the time.
The mosaics at the entrance display symbols of industry and commerce. Iconic are also the two oriel towers on either side of the entrance. The town hall has been a listed building since 1983.

2. The Historic Vicelinkirche
Known as the landmark of Neumünster - the Vicelinkirche. The Protestant church was built in the early 19th century in Kleinflecken, not far from its predecessor, the Bartholomew Church. The latter had been erected in the 12th century by the priest Vicelin and gave the city its name, Novum monasterium, the New Minster.
After 700 years, the old church was dilapidated; among other things, the bell broke free from its fixture in 1762. Thus, the Vicelinkirche was built according to the design by Copenhagen's chief architect Christian Frederik Hansen. It is considered the most significant classical church building in Schleswig-Holstein.

3. Rencks Park - A Testament to a Prosperous Era
The park was established in 1857 by cloth manufacturer Detlev Anton Renck on the Monastery Island. In 1870, it was donated to the city as a recreational area for citizens.
The park invites you to take a stroll, where you can follow the Schwale and see various sculptures. Along the paths, you'll find the sculpture Pan by Hans Bauer, the sculpture Waves by Erwin Reiter, or a monument to Hans Lorenz Renck, heir and donor of the park.
You'll also find the chestnut avenue protected as a historical monument, leading to Villa Köster - another testament to Neumünster's successful textile industry.

The Moll family was an industrial family with an iron foundry in St. Petersburg and an enameling plant in Neumünster.
Alexander Moll died in 1912 and was buried in the mausoleum along with his son. It was designed by architect Hans Roß and stands out mainly because of its terracotta. The figure Mourner in the middle of the tomb was designed by sculptor Ludwig Isenbeck.

5. The Neumünster Water Tower
At 48 meters, the Neumünster Water Tower is the tallest in Schleswig-Holstein. Built from 1899 to 1900, it is still connected to the waterworks' system. It mainly serves to balance pressure in the network and as a water reservoir.
A visit to the tower is also worthwhile at night. Then, the light installation KELVIN by Till Nowak casts the water tower in a range of colors - depending on how warm or cold it is.
