The cold winter months are ideal for planning another visit to the spa. You don't have to go far for that-there are many spas and sauna worlds in the region inviting you to relax.

In beautiful Fläming, you can relax wonderfully in the Bad Belziger Steintherme. Visitors are greeted with a variety of pampering areas and a particularly natural remedy: the iodine-rich thermal brine. The Steintherme is Germany's newest thermal brine health resort. The iodine-rich brine has a salt content of about 20 percent-almost like the Dead Sea. It bubbles up at a temperature of 86°F (30°C) from a depth of 2,542 feet (775 meters) and is prepared in a diluted form for the pools.

2. Fontane Therme Neuruppin

Floating in certified healing water, swaying on Germany's largest floating lake sauna, and then cooling off directly in the Ruppiner Lake: all this is only possible at the Fontane Therme in Neuruppin. With four water surfaces, eight themed saunas, two shower streets with light effects, and an ice grotto, all wellness dreams come true. By the way, the lake sauna, with a total area of 4,306 square feet (400 square meters), is the largest of its kind in Germany.

In the Spreewald-Therme, a thermal brine bath, the thermal water is drawn from a depth of 4,429 feet (1,350 meters)-the source is directly on the premises. With 240 grams of salt content per liter, the water is one of the richest brines in the entire region. The Spreewald wooden bathtubs shaped like boats are unique, as is the salt inhalation offered in large pickle barrels.

The Saarow Therme in Bad Saarow offers a holistic wellness and health experience with the largest contiguous thermal brine area in Central and Northern Germany. A beautiful view of the spa park and Lake Scharmützel quickly helps melt away everyday stress. Particularly exclusive: the original Bad Saarower natural moor. It is rich in valuable minerals and nutrients and is only found in the Saarow Therme.

Alongside an adventure pool with a Caribbean wave pool and a slide tower, the Lausitztherme in Bad Liebenwerda also offers a mineral forum with Kneipp pools and a Roman steam bath. The wellness area, styled in an oriental design, is also well executed.

In the textile-free sauna spa, real palm trees, banana, and lemon trees, along with azure blue water, convey a vacation feeling like Southern Europe. A pool bar in the middle of the thermal brine pool also offers a wide selection of delicious cocktails and soft drinks.

Three indoor pools, some equipped with massage jets, bubbling seating benches, and water curtain showers-with brine concentrations ranging from one and a half to five percent-invite you to regenerate in the Bad Wilsnacker Therme. Unique in Brandenburg is the salt lake with a 24 percent brine content, where you can float effortlessly on the water.

Not a spa, but one of the most romantic sauna facilities in Brandenburg, and therefore part of this list, is the Sauna Village van Almsick in Leuthen. It is located near the Spreewald and is surrounded by vast fields and charming woods. Its fairy-tale-like park was established in 1995 on former farmland and consists of 4,000 plants. The operator is Jutta van Almsick, the mother of the swimming world champion Franziska van Almsick.
