P-Café - Regional, Seasonal, and Organic

The P-Café is quietly located in a cozy churchyard in the middle of the city center. The three female owners of the P-Café have an ambitious vision: They are developing a sustainable concept for the café that focuses on regional food and drinks in organic quality. They already make as much as possible themselves and avoid waste.

The emphasis on regional and seasonal ingredients at the P-Café is evident: the fruits and vegetables are super fresh, and during summer they taste even better outdoors in the cozy courtyard. The menu offers French, Italian, and English breakfast dishes, such as bread rolls, eggs, and cheese variations, and tomato mozzarella with homemade pesto. Be sure to try one of the various porridge options or the vegan breakfast.

Esprit - Stylish and International

The Café Esprit is a popular breakfast location among Göttingen residents. In summer, you'll find shade under the large linden tree in the cozy backyard of the café. It's a great place to relax and let the morning easily stretch into the afternoon. Esprit is perfect for true coffee lovers - if you're overwhelmed by the selection of beans, the friendly staff is happy to help you decide.

The motto of the breakfast menu at Esprit reflects the breakfast preferences of different nationalities: you can find Swiss, Danish, French, and Italian options. The Americano is particularly popular. If you can't choose between sweet and savory, you'll get scrambled or fried eggs with bacon and pancakes with fruit and maple syrup - also available in a large portion for those with a big appetite. The smoked salmon breakfast with honey mustard dill sauce is also delicious.

Kaffeehus - Scandinavian Relaxation

The Kaffeehus is run by two brothers who have been expanding Göttingen's breakfast locations since 2016. They focus on a relaxed atmosphere, Scandinavian flair, and excellent coffee. Naturally, Kaffeehus has its own coffee variety, the 'Nordmann', a roast blend pairing Ethiopian fruity notes with Brazilian chocolate hints. Kaffeehus also has a cozy courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast in a beach chair.

The menu features breakfast classics with bread rolls, jam, fruits, veggies, and homemade spreads. Some creations are also available vegan. For something more unique, try the Danish slice with avocado or order a porridge bowl. Every coffee at Kaffeehus is a true work of art, ensuring your breakfast is a feast for both the taste buds and the eyes.

Cron and Lanz - Traditional and Iconic

The Café Cron and Lanz is a must-visit on your city trip to Göttingen. The coffee house is reputed as one of the best confectioneries in the entire region. The café, established in 1876, offers cakes, pralines, and of course, breakfast.

Breakfast at Cron and Lanz is à la carte. The homemade jams are the highlight of the breakfast offerings, ranging from vegetarian student breakfast to a confectioner's breakfast for two. And for those who like to sleep in: the late riser's breakfast is served until 6 PM.

Birds

Café Birds is still a hidden gem among locals - but probably not for long! Here you can enjoy your breakfast coffee (or tea) on cozy vintage furniture and let Birds' founder, Sophie, tell you which coffee variety she likes best and the inspirations behind her cake creations.

The small café is perfect for a late breakfast.

You can complement the classic Parisian breakfast with a croissant with one of the delicious homemade wheat flatbreads or a piece of cake. How about a poppy seed flatbread with goat cheese, grapes, walnuts, honey, and pepper? Birds also offers creative, seasonal snacks.
