Best Things to Do:
6 Must-See Places in Boltenhagen
1. The Pier
Enjoy your arrival first. Nothing is better for this than walking out onto the pier and taking a look at Boltenhagen from there.
The pier is almost 300 meters long, which offers you a special perspective. It is accessible for everyone without barriers. The view of the white beach, the cozy town, and the water of the Baltic Sea tells you that you're in the right place. This will be a great vacation. Every August, the pier festival with fireworks is celebrated here.
2. The Weiße Wiek
This mysterious-sounding name belongs to one of the most beautiful marinas along the Baltic coast. In the district of Tarnewitz in Boltenhagen, an extensive harbor for sports and leisure boats has recently been created. Surrounded by various vacation accommodations, you will find a special flair here.
You don't have to be a sailor to enjoy the magic of this place. Just sit in one of the numerous restaurants and indulge in culinary delights from the Baltic Sea. With this mood, a stroll through nearby small shops and boutiques is really fun.
3. Schloss Bothmer
Just a few kilometers inland from the seaside resort is Schloss Bothmer. Visiting Boltenhagen and not seeing it would be a real tourist sin! Its appearance might be familiar to you because the castle has been used as a set for numerous film productions.
Completely renovated, with its garden island, it is one of the most significant baroque manors in the north. Today, it is state-owned and open to the public. During a walk in the park, you can feel like a lord or lady of the manor.

4. Klütz: a charming little town
Not far from the castle is the town of Klütz. It has something unique to offer for literature and garden enthusiasts. In a historic grain store is the Uwe Johnson Literature House. The author, who gained national fame with his novel 'Anniversaries', was connected to the Mecklenburg coastal region throughout his life.
The place Jerichow in his main work is modeled after the town Klütz. Enough reason to honor him here with an extensive exhibition and numerous events. If you've become curious, you can discreetly fill an 'educational gap' here.
If your head is buzzing afterward, go a bit further to Julia Scholdt's perennial nursery. She has transformed a listed farm and a wild garden into a display garden with more than 600 species. Wonder and sniff, here these senses celebrate a small feast.
Johnson House: April to October: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am to 5 pm, November to March: Wednesday to Sunday 10 am to 4 pm,
Perennial Nursery: Spring to Autumn: Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday 10 am to 2 pm
5. Beautiful Views from Schönberg
You won't believe it, but there is a real mountain near your vacation spot. The High Schönberg in the municipality of Kalkhorst in the Klützer Winkel reaches almost 100 meters high. Not much? But in an otherwise flat landscape it is. From here you have a very beautiful view of the Baltic Sea.
A local heritage association has also erected a stable viewing platform. So you can have an extensive rest here. If you cannot find the 'mountain' right away, the well-signposted organic farm 'High Schönberg' will be happy to help you.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday 9 am to 4 pm, Sunday 11 am to 2 pm (only May to October)
6. Create a big ship in a small bottle
A vacation spot can be small, but there's usually room for a museum. In Boltenhagen, it's the Bottle Ship Museum that enhances the resort's appeal. If you not only want to know how a four-masted ship gets into a bottle but also want to perform the trick yourself, go visit Jürgen Kubatz.
Since he was twelve years old, he has been building bottle ships. Around 220 examples can be admired with him. And, anyone who wants can create their own ship in a bottle under his guidance.
