Is Spain your favourite holiday destination? This sunny destination is a popular holiday destination for many Dutch people and also one of my, Demi's, favourite holiday destinations! Apart from the mainland, the tropical islands, such as the Balearic and Canary Islands, are also ideal for a wonderful sun holiday! To give you a hand on which beaches you should really see, I have listed for you the 7 most beautiful beaches in Spain below. Which is your favourite beach destination?
1. Cala Xarraca - Ibiza
One of the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza is Cala Xarraca. Its crystal-clear waters also make it a favourite spot for snorkellers and divers. The beach is not big, but ideal for an afternoon of relaxing and unwinding! You have the option of renting a bed or umbrella and can feast on fresh fish at the restaurant in the afternoon. However, it is wise to provide your own food and drinks as this is the only restaurant in the area.
2. Playa de las Catedrales - Galicia
You will find these beautiful rock formations in the coastal province called Lugo. The beach is also called the beach of the cathedrals, which is due to its iconic stone arches. Take a long beach walk and explore this beautiful area, including impressive caves. No swimming is allowed here, as the sea here is dangerous. Also, you can only enter this beach when it is low tide. So make sure you have checked this out in advance.
3. Macarella Beach - Menorca
Macarella Beach is guaranteed to be one of the most beautiful places on this Spanish island. You will find beautiful bays and pearly white beaches on the south side of Menorca... Ideal for a tropical sun holiday if you ask me! This beach is therefore known as the beach of postcards. The seawater has a beautiful tropical turquoise colour thanks to the shallow water and that at only 2 hours by plane... The beach also has a café, handy!
4. Cala de Deià - Mallorca
This beautiful, small pebble beach is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca! In fact, it is one of the few beaches in the west of Majorca. At the beach, you have the opportunity to plop down at one of two restaurants. This beautiful beach is also a popular spot for artists, where you will be entertained with their creations. Be sure to bring a chair as the beach consists of many rocks.
5. Playa de Ses Illetes - Formentera
This is perhaps Formentera's most famous and popular beach... And for good reason! Here you will find a pearly white beach and the most turquoise water you have ever seen. Even though the beach is located in a protected nature reserve, you will find plenty of facilities here. Thus, you can choose to have a bite to eat at one of the restaurants, practice various water sports and discover Isla de Espalmador by catamaran!
6. Cala Figuera - Majorca
Wow... In the north of Majorca you will find the peninsula of Formentor, where you can admire this beautiful beach. This pristine pebble beach is located between two high cliffs where you will have a view of crystal clear waters. The beach has no facilities making it not really suitable for parents with children. A narrow road of about 20 minutes from the car park will take you to this heavenly spot!
7. Playa de Zahara de los Atunes - Andalusia
Mainland Spain also has beautiful beaches. How about this beautiful picture? Playa de Zahara de los Atunes is kilometres long and owes its name to the Sahara Desert which you will find across the water, as you can spot the continent of Africa on a clear day! If you are looking for a beach without tourists, we recommend a visit to the nearby Cabo del Playa, recognisable by its lighthouse.
