Op vakantie naar… Mallorca | Tips voor het prachtige Cala d’Or

After not going on holiday for two years, I finally sought out the Spanish sun again the other day... I decided to visit sun-drenched Mallorca for a week because I hadn't had enough of this beautiful island yet. This time my eye fell on the beautiful Cala d'Or, which is known for its beautiful bays, various beaches and its cosy centre. I ended my holiday in the capital of this island: Palma de Mallorca. Curious about all the beautiful beaches, tasty restaurants and my stay right by the sea? Then read on quickly!

Steps to the rocks

Golden coves of Cala d'Or

If you're looking for small beaches without a mass of tourists (which is often unavoidable in high season...), Cala d'Or is the place to be. Forget the wide beaches of Playa de Palma, El Arenal and Alcudia and visit one of the five most popular beaches in Cala d'Or. Of course, there are many more beaches in the area, but these are the five best-known beaches from big to small are: Cala Gran, Cala Ferrera, Cala Esmeralda, Cala d'Or and Cala Serena. All coves are surrounded by cliffs, making for the ultimate holiday feeling!

When we wanted to book a taxi at the hotel to go to Cala Gran, our tip was precisely to visit Cala Mondrago. Cala Mondrago is a beautiful bay with crystal-clear water with a (short) walking path that takes you to the other beach called S'Amarador. Here you will also find a restaurant, a beach bar and have the option of renting a bed.

Another tip we received was to visit Es Trenc beach. About half an hour's drive from the hotel, we found this pearly white beach which reminded me very much of the Caribbean. At the beach bar you can order delicious cocktails and you can rent beds here as well.

Nice restaurants

Another favourite activity during my holiday is secretly eating... Luckily, there are plenty of nice restaurants and bars to be found in Mallorca where I could go for a delicious snack & drink. Here are a few of my favourites:

Bliss Mallorca Cocktail Bar

Looking for a bar where you can drink the most delicious cocktails? Then be sure to visit cocktail bar Bliss in Cala d'Or's cosy harbour. Besides, you can order lots of different shots here for just €2 or €3... Fun guaranteed! ????

Sky Cocktail Bar

Another fun cocktail bar in the harbour of Cala d'Or is the Sky Cocktail Bar. You'll find this cocktail bar right below Bliss Mallorca Cocktailbar and it's directly adjacent to the port's promenade. From this bar, we had a direct view of the magnificent boats and yachts.

Cassai Gran Café & Restaurant

This way-too-cute little restaurant was on my to-do list from day one. Cassai Gran Café & Restaurant is great to combine with a day trip to Es Trenc, as it is right on the route. The restaurant has a very romantic and cosy atmosphere as well as a delicious menu with meat and fish.

Lola Mallorca

We found Gastrobar Lola in the cosy centre of Cala d'Or. Lola offers delicious cocktails, cold beers and great food.Take note: when you want a bite to eat, order from the menu of the adjacent restaurant. If it is too busy, the restaurant may no longer take tables from Lola. So always check beforehand.

Zhero Beach Club

Sushi lovers take note: are you visiting Mallorca's capital for the day? Our last day of holidays in Palma de Mallorca, we decided to spend a day relaxing by the pool at Zhero Beach Club. This mini beach club has access to the sea, a small pool with loungers and a delicious restaurant with, among other things, good sushi... Hmmm!

Mama Carmen's

Another fun hipster joint we found in the centre of Palma de Mallorca was Mama Carmen's. Here you can go for the tastiest avocado toasts and açai bowls.
