Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival
Scheduled flight from New York City to Windhoek.
Day 2 - Windhoek - Kalahari Region (approx. 205 miles)
Arrival in Windhoek, greeting by the German-speaking tour guide, and drive to the outskirts of the Kalahari to the first accommodation. Opportunity for a desert drive in the afternoon (optional). Dinner and overnight in the region.
Day 3 - Kalahari Region - Keetmanshoop (approx. 174 miles)
Drive to Keetmanshoop with a visit to the Quiver Tree Forest and Playground of the Giants. Dinner and overnight in Keetmanshoop.
Day 4 - Keetmanshoop - Fish River Canyon - Keetmanshoop (approx. 217 miles)
Excursion to the impressive Fish River Canyon, the second largest in the world. Occasionally you see mountain zebras, kudus, oryxes, and hyraxes, and maybe even a leopard if you're lucky. Return and overnight in Keetmanshoop.
Day 5 - Keetmanshoop - Namib Naukluft Region (approx. 267 miles)
Drive through the Tsaris Mountains and past Helmeringhausen into the Namib Desert. It is considered one of the oldest deserts in the world. Dinner and overnight in the Namib Naukluft region.
Day 6 - Namib Naukluft Region - Sossusvlei - Namib Naukluft Region (approx. 124 miles)
Early departure to the dunes of Sossusvlei in Namib Naukluft Park. From the dunes, you have an incredible view of the sea of dunes in the Namib Desert and the Dead Vlei. Afterwards, visit Sesriem Canyon. Return to the accommodation, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 7 - Namib Naukluft Region - Swakopmund (approx. 280 miles)
Drive to Swakopmund with a city tour. Leisure time to explore the coastal town. Numerous relics from the German colonial era still exist here today. Take a walk along the miles of lonely Atlantic beach or browse the woodcarver market near the lighthouse. Overnight in the Swakopmund region.
Day 8 - Swakopmund
Leisure time or optional excursions like a boat tour in Walvis Bay where you may see pelicans and dolphins. Overnight in Swakopmund.
Day 9 - Swakopmund - Outjo (approx. 249 miles)
Drive via Usakos and Omaruru to Outjo. Visit a Bushman village and a short stop in Omaruru. Dinner and overnight in Outjo. Outjo is located at a year-round water-bearing spring and is the gateway to Etosha National Park.
Day 10 + 11 - Outjo - Etosha National Park - Outjo (approx. 155 miles per day)
Two full-day game drives in Etosha National Park. On the first day optionally in an open safari vehicle. Observing elephants, lions, zebras, cheetahs, and much more. Dinner and overnight in Outjo.
Day 12 - Outjo - Otjiwarongo - Windhoek (approx. 217 miles)
Return journey via Otjiwarongo to Windhoek with a city tour. Optional: traditional Braai evening (a typical African barbecue evening). Overnight in the vicinity of Windhoek.
Day 13 - Windhoek
Leisure time until airport transfer. Return flight to the United States.
Day 14 - Arrival in the United States
Hotels
The hotels or lodges all have a restaurant and bar. The comfortably furnished double or single rooms have a bath or shower/WC. Example accommodations:
