A second life was announced for this building, abandoned for many years, when it was recently renovated. Previously, peasants who did not have enough land to feed their families supplemented their income by working in various sectors, such as textiles, lace, ceramics and luxury crafts.
They have been able to create various objects: jewellery, bathroom and kitchen accessories, liturgical instruments, games, etc.
Small production workshops were set up and tasks were divided. Everyone had their own speciality: from fan frames to buttons and other accessories.
Tableware merchants came to the villages to collect the pieces created and then sell them to Parisian wholesalers each year at the end of spring.
