These Airlines Are Also Available via Whatsapp
Delays, sudden flight cancellations, lost luggage - air travelers often encounter these situations. It's frustrating. However, it becomes really aggravating when the responsible airline's customer service is unreachable. Emails go unanswered. Calls get stuck in endless hold loops.
To optimize their customer service, more airlines are turning to Whatsapp. If customers have an issue, they can quickly and easily send a message to the airline through the messaging service. Usually, a chatbot automatically responds, categorizes the issue, and forwards it immediately.
But which airlines already offer this service? An overview.
Condor Has Long Relied on Whatsapp
The customer service of the German airline Condor has been available via Whatsapp since February 2022. 'Shortly after its introduction, we were able to see the value of this channel. Our customers immediately used Whatsapp to discuss their concerns,' says Alexander Kaiser, Head of Customer Service, quoted on Condor's website.
However, the service is not available 24/7, but only from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 10 PM. Additionally, travelers can currently use Condor's messaging service only for 'general information,' as stated on the website.
For complaints about a flight, customers should use this contact form. Those wishing to make changes to an upcoming trip must contact Condor by phone.
SunExpress Available 24/7 via Whatsapp
The German-Turkish airline SunExpress also assists customers via Whatsapp. As stated on the airline's website, the service is available around the clock. However, flight bookings cannot be made via Whatsapp.
Lufthansa is currently not available via Whatsapp. In addition to phone and email, passengers can also use a chat function for questions. You can find this if you click on the round chat icon at the bottom right on this website. Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings does not currently offer a Whatsapp service or a chat function on its website.
Chatbot Louis Serves at Air France
At Air France, the Whatsapp service was introduced this January in 22 countries. According to the airline, chatbot Louis is available daily and can communicate in four different languages: French, English, Italian, and Portuguese. You can find the link here.
Customers can not only ask questions via the new service but also automatically receive information: such as timetable changes, final boarding calls, or the baggage carousel number at the destination airport. But beware: Air France also sends advertisements via Whatsapp.
The Pioneer: The Spanish Airline Iberia
One of the pioneers in Whatsapp customer service is the Spanish airline Iberia. Since 2019, passengers have been able to contact the airline via Whatsapp and ask flight-related questions.
Additionally, passengers of the airline can check in via Whatsapp. You can find the QR code leading to the Whatsapp service on the airline's website.
