South Main
Two kayaking young developers are building a 40- acre new urban project overlooking the white water of the Arkansas River in Buena Vista, Colorado, about 100 miles west of Colorado Springs. The 40-acre development connects to the street grid of the existing town and provides a civic square on the river. A stretch of the river is being improved as a “whitewater park” for kayaking and other sports. Katie Urban and her brother, Jed Selby, hired Dover, Kohl & Partners to plan offices, shops, plazas, parks, and 315 houses adjacent to the town where surrounding mountains rise to 14,000 feet. The project’s main street is angled so that people will have a view of the cupola of a historic courthouse building in the distance. Visit the South Main website here. 1

Walk Score and Blog
Thanks for posting this... it was nice to come across it. Just an FYI, our walk score is adversely impacted by the fact that our street grid is not yet in Google Maps and the fact that the 3 existing parks in and immediately around South Main are not listed in Walk Score's database. We're working to rectify these issues, and hopefully our score will eventually better reflect South Main's walkability which will also continue to improve (we're at 6% of build out).
Anyhow, if you would like more information about South Main, you can also check out our blog at www.livefromsouthmain.com . Cheers!
Walk Score
Walk Score definitely can give some misleading numbers at times, especially when a new neighborhood is being developed. It often is missing information, like the new parks and sometimes businesses as well. Your number should improve over time.
