15 York Township, Pennsylvania, approved a traditional neighborhood development (TND) ordinance in 2005 and now the municipality has five TND projects proposed, all adjacent and connected to one another, according to Will Selman, a new urbanist planner who is consulting with the municipality.
The latest project, designed in late October by Rettew Associates, is Freedom Square, consisting of two sites – one 92 acres and the other 178 acres. The smaller site includes a mixed-use town center, and the larger site is mostly residential — with civic sites, parks, and perhaps a corner store. The developer is Pasch Construction based in Springettsbury Township, Pennsylvania. Rettew is based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
