To help increase bicycling and walking trips and reduce deaths and injuries, 121 jurisdictions across the country have adopted Complete Streets policies since 1971. In 2009 alone, an estimated 45 jurisdictions adopted Complete Streets policies, and ten more have done so during the first months of 2010. See http://ntl.bts.gov/DOCS/nbws.html
